Mozambique is a country in Southeast Africa with thousands of kilometers of beautiful pristine beaches, many in very remote areas of the country. The Mozambique channel is part of the Indian Ocean between Mozambique and Madagascar and is home to a very unique and incredibly biodiverse ecosystem due to its currents. These have a profound effect on the productivity of coral reefs and the planktonic and pelagic communities. Several species of turtles, sharks, and manta rays can be found as well as thousands of others marine species. From August to October Humpback whales migrate to these warmer waters from Antarctica to mate and give birth and their song can be heard on every dive during this time. From October onwards whale sharks spend time here and enjoy swimming close to the surface.
